Disclaimer: This is part of a sponsored campaign with Sears. However, all opinions expressed are my own.

Before we jump straight to the holidays in late November and December, don’t forget to take a moment to acknowledge Veteran’s Day on November 11th. Did you know that there are over 21.8 million veterans in the United States? Just think about that number for a minute! As Veterans Day approaches we are happy to join together with Sears to reflect on the true purpose of this holiday and thank the men and women who have served and continue to serve in our armed forces.

To do their part, Sears recently launched “Heroes at Home for the Holidays.” A new extension of its Heroes at Home program, Sears has teamed with Rebuilding Together to assist veterans who are in need of a wheelchair accessibility ramp for their home. As the granddaughter of a disabled vet (who happens to need access to wheelchair ramps wherever we go), I know this type of work can truly make a real impact on the quality of life for these individuals.

Now through Nov. 19, shoppers can donate when they check out at any Sears store, via a link at, or by purchasing limited-edition products that benefits the cause. 100% of funds raised will go to Rebuilding Together to fund immediate accessibility ramp builds in November and December to military families in need.

As I was shopping on their website to find something special for my grandfather, I was also happy to see that Sears has introduced limited-edition products for the holiday season that give back to Heroes at Home with every purchase!

  • Kenmore Patriotic Pair – A Kenmore 4.3 cu. ft. top load washer and Kenmore 7.0 cu. ft. white dryer w/ Smart Dry Plus are designed, engineered and assembled in the U.S.A. Both feature a unique American flag design embedded in the console. Sears is donating $40 from the in-store or online purchase of each qualifying washer or dryer, up to $200,000.
  • Heroes at Home Ornament – These collectible moose and bear Christmas ornaments are the perfect addition to any holiday décor. With every qualifying in-store or online purchase, Sears will donate $1 with a minimum donation of $20,000.
  • Craftsman Hat – Show love for the Craftsman brand and support veterans with this limited-edition Craftsman Heroes at Home beanie. Sears will donate $1 from the in-store or online purchase of each qualifying hat with a minimum donation of $4,000.

While I wish I could go for the washer and dryer, I decided on the Craftsman hat that defintely looks like something my grandfather would get some use out of at his home in chilly Tennessee. I’ll also snag a home ornament and sneak that on their Christmas tree during the holidays and see how long it takes for them to notice…that’s a fun surprise for sure!

Did you know that year-round, Sears offers active, reserve or retired military personnel or military spouses 20 percent off regular-priced (five percent off sale-priced) tools and lawn and garden products? Very cool of them!

So to get you in the spirit of giving and thanking, Sears is hosting its Veterans Day sale 11/3-11/19 in-store and online, a perfect opportunity for shoppers to beat the Black Friday rush and get a jump-start on their holiday shopping! When you are shopping, don’t forget to set some money aside so that you can donate whatever you can to this amazing organization OR do what I did and purchase one of the items that benefit the cause.

As an added bonus, Sears has provided us with a $100 Sears Gift Card to give away to one lucky reader to help them get a start on their holiday shopping. Maybe you could even use to it shop for a deserving veteran in your life! All you need to do is fill out the entry form below and you will be automatically registered to win!

*Winner will be chosen at random from valid entries and notified by 11/15.
