Ximena Duque’s Washable Dress at Latin Billboards
Well, that’s not a headline that you read everyday, right? Exactly what I thought when I heard this news, so I just had to pass it along! So, here’s the background: Actress Ximena Duque collaborated with designer René Ruiz and Tide to create her couture gown for the Latin Billboards. However, this just wasn’t any dress, they created a unique #TideChic design made of totally washable fabrics!
This collaboration between Ximena and René was part of the Moda Sorprendentemente Lavable initiative which was created in response to the continued demand for washable pieces of clothing and increased consumer appetite for designer fashions.
I love this initiative because I’m totally one of those people who gets so frustrated with that “dry clean only” tag! I will actually just leave certain garments hanging in my closet to avoid having to deal with the care it will require once I’m finished with it. In parallel, the program aims to educate and inform the fashion industry about the benefits and possibilities of creating more designer fashions using machine-washable fabrics. Sounds like a great idea, right?
Props to Tide for making this happen, I’m all for seeing more fabulous #TideChic gowns and dresses on the red carpet!
