Ricky Martin Releases A Quien Quiera Escuchar
Big week in music this semana! Ricky Martin is releasing his brand new album, “A Quien Quiera Escuchar” on Tuesday, February 10th. This will be the 10th studio album for Ricky and his first since 2011. “A Quien Quiera Escuchar” is considered to be the most personal and intimate work he has released so far, so we were really excited to get to sit down with him and hear directly from his boca about the importance of this new album.
So let’s take you through our sit down with Ricky Martin…imagine this: Ricky walks into the room with a warm cafecito in his hand and a warm smile for everyone in the room. He greeted us all with handshakes, kisses, and hugs, making us all feel comfortable and at ease as we began our intimate Q&A about #AQQE.
We asked him: “How do you find motivation & inspiration to record a Spanish-language album in a country like Australia?”
Believe it or not, at first [in his career] I had to be in a specific place but now, after have performed in over 60 countries, I just close my eyes, I go into the studio wherever I am, focus and let the music inspire me. There’s a ton of Latinos in Australia, lots of Colombians and Venezuelans. Not a lot of people know but I’ve been living in Australia for 3 years now, ever since I started working on The Voice. I recorded most of the production of my album in between shoots and did majority of vocals in Puerto Rico.
Being the world traveler, Ricky shared that he has visited “everywhere” he’s ever wanted to visited, with only Vietnam left on his list. He confessed that there is “no award” that he “needs” to win, because he already feels like he’s accomplished so much in his career. While he doesn’t have a goal per se in terms of awards, his focus is for his fans to enjoy his music and also would like the opportunity to do more acting.
We asked him “What acting he would like to do?”:
I need to get back to Broadway, would love to a one-man show, my team is going to kill me for saying this because there always worried I get myself into crazy things, but Broadway is a passion, I miss it.
While he wouldn’t reveal too much, it appears that Ricky has a big announcement coming soon! He hinted at some English-language music coming soon possibly and did confirm he is going back on tour in 2015
We asked him “Where are you planning to go on tour?
I’ll do Australia (again), Asia, Europe, and then US by the Fall, and I want all of you to be there.
Exciting stuff, verdad? Ricky Martin was truly a humble and kind person who spoke to us like he was chatting with friends. We are really excited for you to hear the new songs off the new album.
