Prince Royce In The Midst of Lawsuit, Files Counterclaim Against Top Stop.
Ay dios…despite the success of his sophmore album, his current Phase II Tour and walking away with a bazillion awards at this year’s Premios Juventud, Prince Royce is experiencing a little legal drama at the moment. Apparently the label, Top Stop, filed a lawsuit via the Florida Circuit Court stating that it has “enforceable agreements with Royce as a recording artist and songwriter“. However, Royce doesn’t quite agree with this assertion and has filed a counterclaim against the label and additionally against its founder Sergio George for defamation.
“It adds insult to injury that George would engage in this public battle of words, seeking to discredit Royce in the Latin American music community. This is an act of desperation by a man and a company seeking rights that they do not have. We will seek an immediate trial so that Royce can get on with the business of making records and writing songs,” attorney Kenneth Freundlich
That all sounds really intense to me, and I sincerely hope that everything works out for Royce and he can get back to focusing on making more awesome musica for his fans!
Take a momento from the drama and appreciate Royce’s music video for “Las Cosas Pequeñas“.
