Frida Kahlo Dresses Go On Display in Special Exhibit in Mexico City.

Both La Roja and I are big Frida Kahlo fans (last year for Halloween La Roja even donned a killer Frida costume!). So, this item really was a “must post” to us! Here goes…next month, a very special, never-before-seen collection of Frida Kahlo’s dresses will be on exhibition in Mexico City. They will be displayed at Kahlo’s “Blue House” (where Kahlo and Diego Rivera resided from 1929 until 1954), and the list of items includes the dress Frida wore for her Vogue cover shoot in 1937 (que cool is that??).  A total of 22 items will be on display out of 300 pieces including dresses, photos, and accessories that were discovered in 2004.

Why haven’t these dresses been seen by the public before? Wellll, Diego Rivera requested that the items not be displayed because he wanted to protect them from improper care.  I’m confident though that exhibit curator,  Circe Henestrosa will take very good care of all the artifacts (see description and photos of the display process).
