Domino Saints Release “Malas Mañas” Video
So, I’ve definitely heard the name Domino Saints before, but never took the time to really check out this Puerto Rican urban pop duo- but I’m so glad that I did! First, because I’m happy to see that una mujer is finally joining in on the fun of this genre (which is crowded with hombre-only duos) and secondly because even amongst the fusion of Urban/Pop sounds, Caribbean soul which we have seen before, there is an with an unmistakable rock-star vibe that is totally unique.
Last week, Domino Saints premiered the video for their hit single “Malas Mañas” which was filmed in the sexy, fun and colorful city of Las Vegas, a town that can clearly relate to having malas mañas (aka bad habits…had a gringa moment there when I couldn’t remember what mañas meant). Along with the director Fernando Rodriguez and his production team, the duo worked for more than 16 straight hours in different locations around the city. I personally enjoy the set-up to the video which creates a mini-story that gives context to the craziness that ensures for the rest of the canción.
Now that these guys are officially on my radar, I’m looking forward to hearing to their coming album and seeing how Domino Saints continues to stretch the limits of their melting pot of musical concepts.
