Jennifer Lopez y Marc Anthony, They Got What They Asked For.
Not sure what reminded me of this song since I haven’t heard it in several years, but this past week, with the influx of JLO/Casper and Marc/Shannon photos popping up, I was reminded of those days when Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony seemed happy and recorded sappy duets together, and how particularly ironic this song is now.
“No Me Ames” was originally recorded in 1999 when JLo and Marc were just amigos, but after they were married, it became one of their go-to duets during live performances. With her belly pregnant with their twins, everything seemed to be in place. His talent balanced out her…well…lack of talent, and it seemed like a macho was finally able to calm her diva ways. Pero, al final, no fue asi…it was over.
So now, whether la culpa lies with Marc or JLo (my vote is against JLo especially after the AMA spectacle, poor Marc), what remains of their relationship is nothing but a mess. From flaunting their young/hot new dates, to awkward joint business ventures they can’t just cancel (Q’ Viva and their Kohls collections), to rumors of a fierce custody battle on the horizon, this divorce is going to be long and feo, but, I guess, they got what they asked for: No more amor.
Marc Anthony tweets today about @JLO! Seems more like a hurried attempt to put a positive PR spin on their relationship prior to the Q’ Viva premiere this month. Good try, Marc, but I’m not buying it.
