Latino Life...Gringa Style!
Where there is good música, Las Gringas want to be! Entonces, this past weekend we found ourselves in Austin, TX for the 2012 Pachanga Latino Music Festival! We were muy emocianadas to attend the festival in the live music capital because of the stellar line-up! To recap, we picked our favorite four performances of the weekend including Calle 13, Ana Tijoux, La Santa Cecilia y Chico Trujillo!
When Las Gringas were in Austin, TX for the 2012 Pachanga Latino Music Festival, we kept up a pretty intense schedule trying to make sure we caught all the fest had to offer so that we could report back to you! Pues, all that running around, had us working up quite an appetite! (Hey, a gringa’s gotta eat!) Luckily, Austin is home to some of the best food in the whole state, and one of the best of the best is the perfectly named, Juan In A Million! It’s located in an incredibly nondescript building on Cesar Chavez road near downtown. You can’t let the outside fool you though because inside you will find some of the most delicious food…ever.
During my time in Mexico, I learned all about the word fresa. Obviously, the original meaning of this word is strawberry, those sweet red frutas we all love. We gringas aquí at Las Gringas Blog consider ourselves to be pretty in the know on what’s up in Latino pop culture. I mean we love it and we live it, so its not that hard to stay in the loop. Entonces, you can imagine my surprise when I ran across a recent article that clued me in on the parentage of Alexis Bledel!
When Las Gringas were in Memphis, TN just a few days ago for the Beale Street Music Festival, the local radio stations were playing Pitbull nonstop. So, at a minimum, the music fest attendees knew all about Mr. Worldwide and his music. But I am not entirely sure that they were prepared for the sheer awesomeness of his performance. Summer is just around the corner and that means it’s time for Premios Juventud! I really love the “PJs”, which air live on July 19th from Miami on Univision, not only because they are the hippest and youngest awards show around but also because it includes 23 totally unique categories. This just in! According to the New York Post, Sofia Vergara has reportedly ended her two-year relationship with Nick Loeb over the weekend. Just a few days later, on Monday night, she attended the 2012 Met Gala alone and was overheard confiding in friends about the split. Last week, I was invited by DailyCandy and Suave to enjoy an evening at the Viceroy Hotel for drinks, eats, music, gift bags, and a private screening of the Fashion Star. Plus, South Beach-based Suave stylist Leonardo Rocco was hosting mini makeovers for the local blogueras!
